And a plague was upon us.

Greg T. and I drove up to loon lake this morning for a long run, to beat the inevitable heat, which has been breaking records around the province the last few days. We did the ~13K loop in 1:02:30 which was about 1:30 slower than last week. Maybe it was because we were conversing the whole way or due to the warmer temperature, but it felt like we were going to hit around the 1:01 mark. I was a bit surprised as I thought we came in a bit faster. We added another 40' minutes to the run and finished with 1:43:30, which I'd say was ~21K+.

A good run and it was great to have company, especially at the point we heard a tree come down near us, and I immediately thought: BEAR! We stopped but there was no sign of any fellow mammals in the bush. I suppose if we did see one we would have quickly seen who had the better kick after running for 1:30:00! Also, instead of slugs all over the path this week, for about a 1k stretch there were multitudes of tiny frogs hopping along the path. A number that seemed to be almost biblical in proportions. They were probably less than 2cm across, and I like to think that none made it on the bottom of my shoe, but if I look at it realisticaly, I somehow doubt it. It was either the continuity of my run or the frogs! I'm a bit sorry to say that the frogs lost, though I did my best at dodging them. While I was madly doing my hopping on the path trying to evade them, I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I may have screamed like a girl at one point.
