We made it home today, and with that it was to be an easy run in familiar surroundings. After dinner I ran 8k on the roads and it felt really solid. My legs felt fresh and I must have ran at least 4:40/k's. Not much else to report regarding my run except the weather was perfect and getting cooler when I headed out.
On the way home today, on the ferry, I bumped into Graham C., and one of the things we chatted about, amongst several running related things, was my run the other day at the Oak Bay High School Track. He's very familiar with this track and he assured me it was the usual 400m, and pointed out that our local track is an odd shape. This is something I haven't given too much consideration to, though I've known it wasn't shaped quite right. Our track has slightly longer straight stretches and the corners are too sharp. The corners tend to slow you down. This (and other things) would be a contributing factor to my faster times the other day (as well as a better track surface, lack of wind, etc). I'll take his word for it, as he's a sub 15 min. 5K runner.

Here's Canada's 1/2 marathon champ Steve Osaduik, in an article today. I mention him because I've been in a few races with him............ though I've finished significantly to his rear.
