Following work I made the mistake of having a short nap. When I woke, I was groggy and not feeling quite right. My stomach wasn't right and I even felt a bit dizzy. I walked up the hill from my house towards the track and started a warm up jog. I then got right to the workout, which, when I read what was on my schedule from J.D's running formula, called for a little less intensity than I expected. The rest called for between repeats was 2 min. (or a 400m easy jog in my case) and the time running at tempo pace was to be no more than a mile at a time.
Here's what happened:
4 X 1200m (4:32, 4:35, 4:37, 4:40) looking for an ~4:40
2X 1600m (6:14, 6:13) looking for an ~6:15
8K total tempo running
I had a short cool down and ended with 12K for the day. And, as can happen in running, despite feeling awful before I started running, I felt great during the workout and even better once home and showered. I was happy with my split times as they came with a nice even pace and I felt strong. I know you can't discount the rest in between, the 400m easy jog in between certainly allows for considerable recovery. I usually only take 1:00 between when I do these cruise intervals, so I was feeling fairly refreshed after the recovery period. A good workout today.
