Wild horses on the XC trails

This afternoon Lisa M. picked me up and we headed for a run at the old golf course, where the various cross country loops are set up. Six of us showed up today to do some running, and we're hoping for greater participation as the weeks go by. Patrick, Graham, Lisa and young Tyler did some intervals on the 1K loop while Charlie and I went for a 4K run in 16:00 (on Charlie's coaches suggestion). My workout today lacked structure and was less reliant on a watch than usual, which, all in all is probably a good thing. I was reluctant to do my mix of Tempo/Interval/Repetition runs today as they are on my schedule for Tues. and I would like to be a bit fresher; but seeing that the group is going to be meeting again Wed., I'll do them then. I'm learning some flexiblity!

After our 4K run, I did see Patrick, Graham and Charlie do one of their intervals, and they were ripping up the course like a trio of stallions. Mud flying, sinews showing, tendons springing, and even some heavy breathing. I ran home afterward and am taking a guess that I did 12k running today: 8K easy with 4K in ~16:00.

Here's a surprise result from a 3000m race in Athens, Mottram outkicked Bekele with 150m to go.

Hey Lawrence! Nice blog. A normal person can actually read it and understand what you are talking about without feeling like there is a secret code or fraternity.

I have only checked it out a few times since Patrick told me that you were doing it. But I have been impressed each time.

I particularly like the links to interesting articles such as the one in this day's post about Mottram & Bekele.

I am hoping that you will have time to join us for a few of the Saturday cross-country sessions up at Sunset Park as well. They will be structured like "mini-track race days" - with scheduled events.

Talk to you soon.
