Good bye Jack, Hello Lorne.....

Jack Daniels has been good to me..... the famed running coach that is, not the fire water.

Having been pointed to Daniels book by Lorne several years ago, I methodically set out to self-improvement using his practical pacing tables, based on recent race performances. All has gone well; but over the last few years, some weaknesses in my training (and habits) have made themselves evident. With the help of my coach, we hope to improve on those things that need improving. After consultation with my coach, I've completed the hand over of my training to him. I am an all too willing guinea pig; a guinea pig though, that knows the workouts to come will be good for me. Today, I received the training overview, which paid particular attention to the choices of quality workouts that I'll undertake. Coach has put much thought into these workouts, which will motivate me to give the same thought and effort into them (I believe I just quoted my buddy Patrick there). I'm excited about embarking on new workouts, and a new emphasis on different running and physiological systems.

So, with this excitement bubbling inside, I completed my 8K easy run today by first running a little over 1K warmup and then doing some drills and stride-outs before completing the rest of the run. Drills will be a common undertaking now. My first new quality run will be tomorrow and should be interesting.
