Ladders

It started innocently enough --the ladder workout --with its short runs, which progressively, but none too subtly, increased in distance with short rests in between. Oh, how I came to savour those precious seconds between reps, seconds which were so fleeting as to almost make the laws of time stand on their head as Einstein proved. Half the workout was on an uphill grade and the other half coming back down the same hill. After a 1K warmup, and drills, I ran ladders that totaled 8.3K. A fairly tough workout today.

This was my first ladder workout and probably started out a bit fast, but I found the groove (or was forced to) by the second progression up the ladder. I'd give myself 3 out of 5 for the workout, with the deductions coming from the workouts execution and attention to running form; but I'll know what to expect the next time I do this one and should improve. After working my legs pretty good today, I soaked them in the ocean and put this one in the log. Happy Halloween to all!

I think that you are grading yourself too toughly. Without even being there, but knowing the workout, I would be inclined to say that completing the first session is at least 8 out of 10. The reliance on intuition is huge - so you are running in an area without borders. I know that there was no watch involved, but can you imagine what the average speed of this session was? When you factor that over the accumulated distance, you have to recognize what you have just accomplished. Well done!
