I met with Lisa at the track this morning, and after warming up for a few laps and doing some drills, we walked up past the school to Nootka St. so Lisa could pass on to me her fine downnhill running technique. We ran down the hill a number of times, Lisa passing on different areas to focus on and images to think about while running. It was good stuff. After a few passes, I felt I relaxed a little bit more, and will do this once a week to see/feel if there's some tangible (?) improvement.
My legs felt they had little snap after yesterday's workout, but they did improve after the warmup. After completing the downhill session we ran easy for a while around the streets, finishing with a few laps around the track. I don't know how long or how much time we ran for, as I didn't look at my watch for a change. If I was forced to choose a number, I'd say we ran for 7-8K total.
There, I cheated: I chose a range, not a number.
I very briefly thought about running a short recovery run tonight, but I think I've talked myself out of it. There's always tomorrow.......

The calendar gods will understand. Quality and speed are more powerful gods than the evil god of obsessive volume.
Picking a range isn't cheating. A workout has a certain effect on the body, and it doesn't know if you picked a range or an exact time/pace/distance.
