A birthday to remember

We celebrated our daughter's 2nd birthday today, which was at first a bit overwhelming for her, but she found her groove when her little (but slightly older) cousins showed up. Sarah made an awesome cake for the occasion. It's the sort of cake that requires a tough workout to enjoy completely, so with knowledge that cake was on the menu later, I hit the XC course.
I picked up Patrick mid-morning and drove to the XC course, but we ended up doing our own thing, as he had an easy run on his schedule. We did do a warmup, drills and strides together. Patrick sure looked fast on the strides. My workout was a toughie, I pushed for three laps of the xc course to just above the red line. It's the "Vo2Max" workout that stresses my cardio system the most of all my workouts. When Patty and I finished our respective runs, we joined up and headed for the ocean to soak our legs. Patty lasted about 6 sec. (the brave soul) and I about 40 sec X 2. It was C. O. L. D. Any lethargy I was exhibiting earlier was gone, I was now completely awake.

Lawrence,
I think you are being a bit generous with the 6 seconds. I’d say more like 2 seconds!
