Alan Moore's, "The League of Extraordinary Gentleman

I recently read this and thoroughly enjoyed it. The concept is really quite cool. Take a bunch of fictional characters from the late 19th Century, put them together, and you've got a witty, well-woven, intelligent adventure tale.

From what I've heard, don't watch the movie, they made a botch of it.
