Fly in the ointment
Last night, close to sunset, doing my best to avoid the heat, I ran 9k easy. After I loosened up, I felt great for the last half of the run. This despite about 800m into the run, a large bug went flying into my gaping gullet, hit the back of my throat, and took a quick turn north down my esophagus. I coughed, hacked, and dry-heaved, but he didn't want to come up. The cars driving along the highway at that moment must have thought this runner had expended everything and was about to give it all up.
I guess in the end the bug worked like an energy gel.
