Running with a collie

A run this morning with G.T. & K.B. (on a bike), with Zunga the dog in the pole position for most of the run. Now, according to locals, and I've been hearing this for years, the word "zunga" is peculiar to the local area. Want proof? This is as good as you're going to get.

We ran Loon lake in approx. 54:00, which translates into roughly a 4:10 min/km pace. We went out quickly, but slowed a bit after G.T's bio break. I felt tired the last few k, as if I just ran out of energy stores. I just hung onto G.T till the end. A refreshing dip followed the run, and then coffee at the local Starbucks.

Zunga is a Powell River word that some say originates from a play at "The Patricia Theatre". They originally had live plays there (pre-movie era) and there was a play that had a "Tarzan-like character" named Zunga, and he used to swing on ropes, and that is what the local yarn or legend, if you will, indicates for where Zungha or Zunga came from!
