I finally headed out for a run. Not surprisingly my legs felt really fresh. My right foot is at about 95% with just a touch of the plantar fascitis left. I ran 10K easy (about 4:45/k) from home which was exactly what I had planned. I headed to the track and ran the first 5k on the field, then shot up the hill to the Manson extension and hit the trails for the last 5K.
While running on the field next to the track, I suddenly heard a girl of about seven wailing. I ran over and found that she had accidently been hit in the head with a baseball bat (an aluminum bat at that). I don't think she was hit very hard because the other girl was quite small and there wasn't any bruising/welt on her forehead yet. I asked if they lived nearby and an older girl of about 12 said yes. I told them to get home double-quick so they could put some ice on it. I wasn't much help, but they did take my suggestion to heart and booted it home. I'm sure she will be alright.
I've decided to stop my weekly Interval training on the track till my foot is 100% for a goodly period of time. In the meantime I'll do any speed work (Interval pace or faster) on the turf. My quality focus will be my Friday tempo run which is something I'm looking forward to this week. So, a good run overall, just for the fact that I got the legs working, the heart beating, and lungs working again.
