Saturday Review Part III

This week I'm going to review something a little different: an event. This morning saw the running of our local Sea Fair parade. I went down to our mainstreet and set up our chairs outside the Bank of Montreal with my family and sister-in-law's family. The kids love the parade, and you have to take your hat off to the volunteers that do the organizing. I, and many in this community, want this to be a success. My job though, dear reader, is to look at it with a detached, critical eye; and this sometimes is not easy. Looking at the parade through the eyes of an adult; the parade, for all it's good intentions, comes off a little flimsy. Dare I say sad? The co-ordination of the parade was suspect. At the early point in the festivities, there was a 10-15min gap between the classic cars driving by and (my favourite) the bag pipes. Huh?

Anyway here's some pics:

This is Wal-mart's entry. Some employee's with shopping carts. One of corporate America's biggest companies relegated to something from Trailer Park Boys. This is the sad bit. Or funny bit......I'm not quite sure.

This is Miss Friendship. Whether you're for or against pageants, would you want to be Miss Friendship? It's got consolation prize written all over it.

I'll end with something positive. Strangely, this was the best looking float of the works, an entry from BC Ferries. They certainly out-spent wally world.
