Slow Saturday

A Saturday today, and that generally means a day off running. Saturday is my favourite day of the week. For me it means time with the family, and the Saturday Globe & Mail. I wasn't very successful with either of those today, as work/commute took up a solid 11 hours, and I didn't pick up today's paper. Sarah's sister came over for a visit and told me there's a possibility of a fast runner moving to town. She's a 3:12 marathoner! We need more of these types moving to town. I'm probably jumping the gun a little here, but it never hurts to have more potential running mates.

I've been thinking about my run tomorrow morning and really need to find some soft surface without resorting to endless laps of the soccer pitch. Those turf ovals can get excruciatingly boring. I have something in mind.........but more on that tomorrow.

I found this interesting bit on Canada's favourite runner on the runner's world site:

Ed Whitlock Looking For One More Record in TorontoWhitlock, who's absolutely everybody's hero, will run the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in September, when he'll look to add a 75-plus age group record to the 70-plus world marathon record of 2:54:49 he already owns. But Friday night, Whitlock's aim is more modest; at a Nissan Foundation 5K in Toronto, he hopes to break Canada's 75-plus 5k record of 20:42. Since he ran 19:06 for the distance in 2005, we'd bet on him. A lot.More, www.runnersweb.com
