Easy day around the lake

Today was an easy day, and though I was up early, I didn't hit the roads until about 4 p.m. The morning was devoted to family stuff and yardwork. Later, I ran from the gym so as to take a route I haven't done lately. I went around Cranberry Lake, and extended the run a bit by heading into Cranberry itself. This is a route I'm very familiar with and have gotten tired of it in the past, so I have to do this loop selectively these days. The portion around the Lake took 48:00, and when I wound my way back to the gym, I jumped on the treadmill to make my total run time 1 hour. Judging how my pacing felt and how 4:45/k felt on the treadmill, I believe I was probably just a titch below 4:45/k for the run around the Lake. At that pace I ran just under 13K today.

I don't think I've written about it in the last week, as I don't want to drone on about my ailments; but my right foot was sore after cooling down. When I got home I iced it thoroughly, and am hopeful these ice baths for my foot will do the trick.

I briefly saw Patrick as I was leaving the gym and congratulated him on his duathlon at the World's. I didn't get a chance to speak to him for long, but should hear more about it tomorrow, as we've arranged to meet for a run with his buddy Andrew W.

Here's a couple of Pre quotes I hadn't read before:

“If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail.”

“You cannot propel yourself forward by patting yourself on the back.”
