Par for the course

Uncharacteristically, I was up at 5 a.m. on a day off today. I had arranged to meet Patrick and Andrew at 5:30 to run at the golf course. Patrick has arranged to occasionally run there early in the mornings as part of his training as the turf offers the best cushioning for his shin area. It certainly did no harm for my foot, running the golf course is just the perfect underfooting. When we started running Andrew took off like he was shot out of a cannon, running far ahead of Pat and I. Andrew has turned himself into an athlete in the last year; dropping a ton of weight, running and biking everywhere. He's the sort that is inspiring to all those that want to make a change in their life towards the active. Anyway, I ended up running a total of ~8k with the last 5K at (my)tempo pace. It was nice having Patrick push the pace during the tempo run, it really helped. It was also a treat, though not fully recognized at first, to get the run done before the day really began. Thanks boys!

Later, in the evening I tacked on another 6K easy on grass at the track. This was my first double in a long time, giving me 14K for the day.
