Penance

Because of yesterday's missed run, I was determined to put the runners on as soon as I stepped in the door from work. I did, and was at the track in short order. I warmed up for 3K and then it was time to do some intervals. I did 5X1K with about 2:30 rest between and my splits were: 3:35, 3:32, 3:34, 3:34, 3:34, and because I missed a run yesterday, I made myself do a 400 after these, which I did in 1:23. This was my penance; my confession was yesterday, and the lashings were administered by myself over 400m of hard track. To add to my guilt yesterday, I was speaking to Ian F. on the phone, and he had just got back from running around Loon lake --twice! That's 26k...he's training for the Victoria marathon in Oct.

The intervals felt difficult today, but I suppose that's the way they're supposed to feel. I was happy with my times; but during portions of the intervals, I felt like I was going slooow--my body was getting tired. I cooled down for a couple K and ended with 10 for the day.

Victoria resident Jon Brown is going to jolly England for a race Oct 1. We raced against each other in the Comox 1/2 marathon in 2005: he only beat me by a half an hour.....

Hey, I have to say that this blog is finally coming into its own - whatever that means. I see I finally rate an honourable mention, finally that is. It did not seem to rate when I entertained you for hours with my witty stories about my dedication to training by running past Buckingham Palace and through Hyde Park every day, or running along the Seine and that grandest-of-all avenues, the Champs (through the arches) Elysee. Wait a minute, I get it, this is about you. Sorry, strike the above -
