Understanding Comics

Understanding Comics 1993

This book I purchased on ebay about a year ago, is simply a great book. I was really blown away by it, as it explains the medium in incredible detail and nuance. It really requires and deserves multiple readings. It explores the artform of "sequential art" and provides the reader with a far greater understanding of an artform that is often disregarded as juvenile. Comics are a medium, not a genre as Scott McCloud eloquently elucidates. His book, which has been written using "sequential art" has many moments where you find yourself thinking, "wow, I never quite thought of these things in quite that way before".

If you want to explore this artform any further, Understanding Comics is the one book to buy.
