Loon Lake tempo run

Procrasination was my main tactic this morning. But I had to get out for a run this morning, as I had obligations this afternoon, and the sun was heating up the day. I drove up to Loon lake and went for a run by myself, though I was craving a running partner today, just to get me out the door sooner.

I warmed up for a km and made my way to the "0" mark of the trail. I headed off for the Tempo portion of my run and when I hit the 1K point, my watch read 4:10 and I knew the km markers were off, as I was definitely running sub 4:00/k pace (for the first K anyway). The trail is supposed to be 13K, but I don't know how close it is to that, and actually have some doubts. I need to take a bike up there and measure it. I ran the trail in 53:38 which is a bit slower than when I've raced this section in the past. Overall though, I was happy with my time, considering it seemed a mental hurdle just getting there this morning. I cooled down for a couple of k and this gave me ~16km for the day.

It was a beautiful morning at the lake and on my drive back home along the dirt road, I saw Barrie M. running up to Haywire Bay. He was meeting his family up there for a swim and some fun. Oh....and Happy Birthday Barrie!
