Having a sub par run yesterday, I decided to hit the treadmill this afternoon to see what my "proper" easy pace should be. After my run yesterday, I felt I needed to be reminded of that pace. That, and my annual gym membership was due, so I could kill two birds with one stone. I ran 45:00 at 7.9mph with a 1.0 incline. This was a tad over 8K at 7:31/mile or 4:40/k pace. A stitch on my right side bothered me for a few minutes, but it subsided and I was right as rain. It's rare I'm bothered by side stitches, but they can be a pain...in the, er.....side?
Paying my yearly membership today made me reflect back to when I first joined the gym. It was this week in 2000, that I entered the gym, and got my first three free visits. A week later I was a member. I did this about a month after getting out of the hospital having had my appendix removed. I felt at that time I was at a low, and I remember lying in the hospital determined that I needed to get on with things, and exercise was one of those things. Just before joining the gym, I recall walking up to the track with my sister and running a couple of laps, which was probably the most running I had done in 5-6 years. And that set me on my way. So, I have to credit many people for getting me on my way: my sister for one, the good people at the gym, the number of people I've met through running since, and now Sarah (& Audrey) . Thanks to all.
