Yesterday I ran for 1:27:40 with 3X1K fartleks. A windy afternoon saw me wear my light toque for the first time this season. At least the rain held off for a change. I ran with the HR monitor, and was to run all of it (minus the fartleks) with a HR under 155. What happened, for some reason unknown to me, was that I was getting a lot of false readings where my HR would shoot up past 170, and as high as 220 for a brief period of time. Archiving is what I think I've heard it called. It made for the chart I downloaded looking fairly chaotic. I don't quite know what's up.
At least my heart is still beating.

Might be a couple of things - poor contact between strap & chest; weak batteries in transmitter or weak batteries in receiver; transmission "noise" from power lines if you are running near a sub-station or under the pole line.
Lorne,
My suspicion is the strap batteries. I may swing by and borrow one from you and test my theory. Thanks.
