9K easy

Sarah got home from work and almost simultaneously my sister knocked on the door to join me for a run. We didn't exactly run together, but we did walk up the hill as a warm up and then went off in different directions. Sis ran towards the old homestead and I ran further up the hill to Manson then to Joyce, and cut down to the street I grew up on -- Michigan Ave. Michigan has some interesting characters on it; first up my co-worker Dennis. His yard is looking a lot greener than mine. With his favourite team's usually making early playoff exits, he probably has more time for lawn care duties. Next my parent's place; I think I made it past the house without my Dad's keen eye noticing what was going down on his street. Not much gets past the 'ol man.

I ended up running for just 46:30, which is a little over 9K. The last K, close to home, has a set of mile/km marker signs. I don't know why they're there, except maybe to use to check if your car's odometer is working properly? I've always wondered as I haven't seen them anywhere else. Anyway, heading south towards home, going slightly uphill, with a slight wind, I clocked 4:42.5 for my last km using the Km marks. This effort was basically my average for the run, so I felt good about my pace.

This link is not for my sister. She apparently doesn't click on links to do with running stories.
Haile Gebrselassie is preparing for the Berlin Marathon and he says, "I will run as fast as I can..."
