After a very long day at work, I staggered home for dinner. It was everything I could do to drag my sorry butt off the couch afterward to make it for a run. Luckily though, I was committed to meeting Greg T. at the track, so I felt an obligation to be there on time. Heading up there at 7:30, the plan was to do a series of 200m and 400m reps. We ended up running a total of 2.4k at R pace in the following alternating sequence: 2X200m +1X400m. We took full recoveries and ran the 200's in a consistent 37 sec and the (3) 400's in 1:17, 1:15, 1:17. It was nice having someone to do these with as it really helped to keep on pace and actually push just a little harder than if you'd been up there by yourself. This is particularly evident by comparing my times with last week's rep workout.
The 200's felt relatively easy; it's during the 400's where the piper is to be paid in the last 200m-- I can feel myself tightening up a bit on the final straight-a-way. A total of only about 6K today, but 2.4 of it fast (for me). My legs felt good this evening, so a good run in spite of my long day. Hopefully, I'll be allowed to catch up on some sleep tonight.
