Cross country loops

The whole family drove to Willingdon Beach after Audrey's nap so that while I got my run in, Sarah and Audrey would play at the playground. I ran through the trail for a warmup toward the old golf course and I would get my tempo run in via the 1K loop Patrick showed me yesterday. While in the trail, Graham C. came up behind me as he was running home following work, and we had a brief chat. Obviously, he had no problem catching me, even while wearing a back pack; at first I thought it was someone on a bike, because I could hear someone coming up on me very quickly.

I went looking for the loop, and had a hard time finding it at first, until I found the start and ran it backwards from yesterday, so as to connect the paths. Having found it, I wasn't exactly sure of the exact starting spot, so I chose a point and did 5X1K loops with 1 min. rest. The first half of the run is uphill, and I could really feel it by the fourth loop. I went out a bit fast for the first two, and could feel it in the last two. My loop times were: 3:39, 4:01 (but I added another path), 3:47, 3:51, and 3:52. On my way back to the park I threw in another 1K, so I ended with 6K at tempo pace; plus 4X30sec. striders -- about 11k total for the day.

It's nice knowing this cross country loop, as it will add a nice choice to my measured workouts; it will work different systems (uphill and downhill running on uneven terrain), and it's a very handy distance from home or the park.
