On tap today was 10 X 800 at the track. It was a beautiful day and evening, and I had to delay my workout till the evening due to a district wide track meet today, and the heat of the late afternoon. It was a tough one today and didn't complete the workout in full. I felt I could have put in the last two 800's but it would be at the expense of good form. I went into this one with slightly sore calf muscles from the last track session, so spent some time loosening up before.
1200 m warmup
drills + 4 X strides
8 X 800 with 1:30 rest between
1 X 400
drills + 2 X strides on grass
I felt like I put out a decent effort here today, but my times weren't what I was hoping for. I was shooting for 2:40's, but landed just north of that. By the last 800, my legs were fatiguing a fair bit and I thought of ending there, but decided to put in a final 400, using the mental self-trick of telling myself that it was just 400.
I'll be interested to see how my legs feel tomorrow.
